The Existence of God The Bible does not debate the question of whether or not God exists. Rather, the Scriptures present God in the very first verses of Genesis as the Creator, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen. ). The first and primary evidence for the existence of God is the existence of the creation. Through the prophet Isaiah, God proclaims that His "righteousness [which is defined by His law] shall not be abolished" (Isa. ). Thus, His Law stands forever. Other passages demonstrating the unity of Scripture can be found in Psalm where nearly every verse declares the greatness and truth of God's Word and confirms what Jesus said. In contrast, the Trinity is a God who has a knowable nature revealed in Scripture. God is holy (Lev. ), good (Mark ), and loving (1 John ). These are not mere adjectives inserted in the text to describe how God sometimes behaves; these words appeal to who and what God is. The International Theological Commission, following studies carried out over the past five-year period (–), has drawn up a new document entitled: "God, the Trinity, and the Unity of Humanity: Christian Monotheism and its Opposition to Violence".
